Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse covered "Valerie" for Mark Ronson's second studio album called Version. This version was released 15th October 2007 in the UK and 30th July 2008 in the USA. The genre of the song is a mixture between R&B, Rock & Roll and Jazz.
The single spent 19 consecutive weeks in the "Top 20 UK singles charts" and peaked at number 2. It sold 329, 490 copies and became the 9th best selling single of 2007.
The song received a nomination for British Single but lost to "Shine" by Take That.
The beginning of the song, Amy Winehouse is heard saying "I'm sorry Charlie Murphy, I was having too much fun." This is a reference to the Rick James skit from Chapelle's show.
